    Am I missing something?

My '12 SR5 is like that too. It's normal. Don't worry about pissing off people. At least you made some effort. Sometimes we just don't use the right search terms, or we simply overlook a post. It's not a big deal. It's almost like you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Don't...

    35inch tires

If your main concern is being offroad ready, then a lift and tires is not where to spend your money. For the most bang for the buck, spending money on 4 wheeling lessons will do you wonders. Put a great 4x4 driver into an average 4x4 vehicle, and he will go much farther than a novice in the...

plastic door sill wire race removal

Yeah, don't worry about using too much force really. I've gone into that area so many times, and that thing has never broken, nor have any of the tabs. There's other areas where I'd be gentler, especially pulling out tabs, but those covers around the raceways are pretty strong.

For Those Looking for a LED Light Bar

From my understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, lumens isn't the best measurement for light bars. Candela measures the visible intensity from the light source, basically, how intense is the light when it falls upon your target. Lumens measure total light given off, but that's from the...

My time with the 5th gen didnt last too long. :(

Wow! Can't believe that you fared so well, but that's fantastic! I don't understand how other people (the kid) don't pay attention to the point that something like this happens. Sigh.

    Transfer Case Shift Knobs

I think they're either love 'em or hate 'em, but I got one from hotrodshiftknob.com with yellow lettering (and a matching gear selector). Price wasn't bad at $42. TOYOTA F.J. Cruiser 4x4 Shift Pattern Shift Knob - HouseOspeed - Hot Rod Shift Knob

Anyone come from Land Rover? Or G-wagon?

Always a tricky question to answer, when admitting you have the means, without coming off sounding like a douche. Nevertheless, yes. Years ago, before I was accepted to a university for a doctorate level degree, my wife promised me that if I finished I could reward myself after graduation with...

Gobi Rack - Advantage and disadvantages

I ordered mine mid/mid-late March, got it just in time for a trip in mid May, overall about 8 weeks. It was expensive, but I haaate having a messy/crowded interior on long trips, plus I often times sleep in the truck on "expeditions", so it's nice to be able to at least keep some stuff up top...

Where to run cables for solar?

I've tried searching for solar panel installs, but haven't really come across much other than an install on a 3rd gen where they ran the wires through the back, I believe it was. I was a little surprised at my lack of results, as it seems talk of solar panels on our trucks is frequent enough...

    Toytec 3" coils+5100 at .85 perch?

Ahh, the question which gets asked quite a ton. Don't worry, I'm not chastising you. I once had the same question. There's a few things at play. First, and easiest cop out answer is that despite the fact we all have 4Runners, everyone's truck is different. Hell, my buddy has the same lift...

    Resizing forum size?

Hi all. As most of the computer using population likely has monitors of a minimum 1920x1080 resolution, this probably isn't an issue for most. However, I'm frequently on my laptop, which is about three and a half years old, and has a resolution of 1366x782 or something around there. Many...

Does 285/70/17 spare tire fit under 4runner?

I had read a bunch of posts saying that it either wouldn't fit, or you'd have to air down the tire, but I had no real issues with my BFG KO2s 285/70/17 on 8" rims. The only thing I had to do was pull the tire towards the back just a bit as I winched it up, but big deal. I actually ended up...

Buds built sliders - tread plating or no tread plating?

Great point. I'll be getting sliders soon too, had the same dilemma, and think this single point may have changed me to leaning towards no plating.

    Trd pro lift question

Can't give you a measurement, but I have the toytec 3" lift, 285/70/17 ko2s, and a gobi stealth rack, and I still got into a standard garage by the skin of teeth. It's so close that each time I go in (I usually park outside), I open the sunroof and pull in very slowly while watching the tallest...
