I was pleasantly surprised with the V8 gas mileage

Yep shouldn't need to let your 4Runner idle for very long in cold temps. If you are really worried about it, then buy a block heater.

    Radio stolen - Need help!!!!

Yep it looks like the 'shroud' bracket is gone. Luckily he didn't use wire cutters on the harness, as most thieves do. I don't have any idea what the bracket looks like, sorry. This reminds me of a story my friend told me. He had a really crappy mazda truck, someone had given him a used...

Steel or winter rims (wheels) for 17" or 18"?

Looks like large diameter steels might be a niche business opportunity for manufacturers.

Steel or winter rims (wheels) for 17" or 18"?

Yeah, that's my problem, is that only 17" and above with the correct offset will fit on the 2006 limited. I tried to order 'em through tire rack and it plainly says "non available" for rims.

Steel or winter rims (wheels) for 17" or 18"?

I have a 2006 4runner limited with the 18" alloys on it. I can find some good 17 or 18 inch tires on tirerack, but I'm having a heck of a time trying to find some good winter rims to go with em. I'd hate have to have to remount the existing rims with winter tires every year. Any...

View new post. Does it work?

Some thread Necropsy here. This version of vbulletin's a bit old, and the problem here is you can't visit the site from two different computers and have the new posts link work (since the cookie is specific to the computer you last visited the site with). Anyhow, here's a little workaround...

When I lived in Idaho, the very best off-road "club" was the local County Search and Rescue. If you have the time and the inkling, join up! I miss my International.

Help!! Anybody who has kids please....

Good to hear! My son wouldn't stop crying one night because of gas, and we just had to stay up all night with him and work it out. My pediatrician showed me 'excercises' you can with your child do to get the gas out faster, when we called the next day. The next episode we were able to get...

Help with Options on '06 Limited T4R...

I recommend getting the package from http://fightingchance.com. The package I got from them detailed all the weirdness with dealing with Toyota East of the Mississippi, and how to get the best deals. Note that the previous post is correct, Toyota's pretty hard line on making pre-made packages...

Best place to install a brake controller?

Well I finally put it in this weekend. Whew it was a bit of a PITA. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with the prodigy. The 4Runner's brake on the 4th gen has a short stalk, and the metal is twisted, making it very hard to get a straight on lead into the wired control module that...

Deadly teen auto crashes show a pattern

This is where growing up in the snow and ice probably really helped me when I was young. When you can precisely control a 4 ton International Travelall on pure ice, then you know how to drive. :)

    '04 4Runner Sunroof problem

Is there a sunroof specific fuse? You could just pull it and not worry about it getting opened again in the future. I would not, however, suggest 'never' opening the sunroof. Just like any other moving part, it needs to be excercised semi-regularly to keep it greased and the rubber seals...

Best place to install a brake controller?

So it appears according the the little piece of paper that comes with the Toyota wiring harness and comparing that to the install instructions that I won't need to touch the stop light wire and another wire. The only weird requirement is the 20-amp auto reset circuit breaker. Did you install...
