Steel or winter rims (wheels) for 17" or 18"?

I have a 2006 4runner limited with the 18" alloys on it. I can find some good 17 or 18 inch tires on tirerack, but I'm having a heck of a time trying to find some good winter rims to go with em.

I'd hate have to have to remount the existing rims with winter tires every year. Any suggestions?

17" wheels should fit on the Limited without any problems. SR5 have smaller brakes that will clear 16" rims. SE and some Limiteds have bigger rotors that will not clear 16" rims, only 17" will.

Have you considered getting winter tires from TireRack with steel rims mounted and ready to go? I've thought about getting a set of 4R SE wheels and mount snow tires on them for trips up to the mountain for snowboarding.

Yeah, that's my problem, is that only 17" and above with the correct offset will fit on the 2006 limited. I tried to order 'em through tire rack and it plainly says "non available" for rims.

Closest will be getting the replicas or FJ wheels which will run you about 450 to 600 including shipping.

Sorry, I didn't look at TireRack's site when I suggested the steel wheels.

The only other way to get steel 17" wheels are from a FJ Cruiser. However, according to another thread, the off-set on FJC wheels are slightly different and there is an increase in track width.

As suggested, eBay seem to be the best place to find 4R take off wheels. Some will come with stock tires while others are rims only.

Looks like large diameter steels might be a niche business opportunity for manufacturers.

Search ebay and craigslist for toyota rims. Rims from a tundra, sequoia, and 4runner will fit, Im not sure about the FJ or new style tacomas but if they are 17's i bet they would. They can usually be found for around $600 or so
