What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yesterday I had a full exhaust installed - from OBX headers that put on a few months ago, back - High Flow Cat, 2.5", Flowmaster 44 Series. Not stoked on the 44 Series. It's loud and a bit raspy at some RPMs. Hopefully it mellows out a bit.

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

Last Night I replaced the Crank Position Sensor and the truck seemed to be worse. I rechecked all my grounds then finally broke down and called URD. I talked to Gadget over there and his first question was: "How were the connections made on the PCU?". My buddy who is usually really good with...

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

So last night I verified all my vacuum lines are good and in the right places. Tried starting the truck and it fired up. shut it off and tried again with no luck. BUT, I finally got a CEL. P0335 Camshaft Position Sensor. I'm going to check it tonight and see what's going on. I'm hoping the...

    Identify this vacuum line!

Figured it out. It goes from the wheel well up and over the supercharger to the the vacuum port on the back of the mounting area for the throttle body.

    Identify this vacuum line!

Thanks much, guys, that helps. The photos are great but just need a bit more angle to see the back side of the Manifold.

    Identify this vacuum line!

Can anyone identify this vacuum line and where it connect to on the back of the intake area? A photo of the backside of your intake/throttle body and drivers side inner wheel well would be oh-so-helpful. Here's why I need it...

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

OK, it was a friggen long weekend working on this thing and I'm still having problems. Here's the high and low points of the weekend. -Separating the engine from the trans was a *****, it took us 2 hours of kicking, wiggling, jacking and cussing to get it apart. No magic method here. - Changing...

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

Sure is! I called today and will be sending it back on Monday. I don't think I have enough time to get the OBX headers shipped before I start the swap. Edit, I called and ordered the OBX headers today if all the stars align correctly, they will arrive on Friday. OBX 99-02 TOYOTA 4RUNNER V6 SS...

Ok, since i have a lot of time to plan all of this, I'm making a list of what needs to happen: I'm trying to keep all of this under 3k A. Pull old engine: Nothing Special. Leave Transmission in. B. New Engine Prep Replace timing belt and water pump Install New Thermostat Replace Rear Main...

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

Ok, you guys are very persuasive, I just ordered the TRD Headers. and started spraying the studs on the new engine with PB Blaster ;) It's looking like we will be swapping in the engine on April 6th. I've already got the original engine sold for 275 on craigslist (thats how I justified the...

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

Thanks Russ, I was thinking about headers too, however the cost to hp ratio didn't seem to be worth it to me. The Plugs and wires are indeed a definite.

I have no idea about the wheels by the way, they were on the truck when I bought it.

    Swapping in a new-to-me engine.

Picked up the engine last night in Denver, we got an afternoon snow storm so the normally 45 minute drive took 2.5 hours. Fun times. Anyway, Tonight I pulled the valve cover off and low and behold, a very clean engine! Pulled the cover to the timing belt and it looks like it's been done...
