How long to wait after starting engine in cold weather?

Not very cold in Alabama But, I let it run about a half minute to get the oil circulating and drive gently until the temp guage starts coming up. Unless - the windows are frosted up, then I let it run until the defroster clears enough for good visibility.

Looking for input on Tranny use

4th gear around town I had been using primarily 4th gear around town and that keeps the RPMs in the 1500-1800 in the 30-ish to 40-ish speeds. In the last tank, I noticed the MPG was down a little to about 15 and a half so the technique is getting a little refinement. It was anything 40 or under...

    Honeymoon must be over

Martin Logans One nice thing about high end audio gear is that unless you become afflicted with audiophilia nervosa and have to continually "upgrade" it can have a nice long life. I plateau'd with some nice gear about 10 years ago that is still quite enjoyable.

    Would you buy again ??????????

At 5000 miles on my 4Runner, yes, I would buy another. Over the last 31 years, there has only been two or three where I did not own a Ford vehicle (E-150 10 years, F-150 4 years, Explorer 5 years, Windstar 8 years). They were all good vehicles but this time around, Ford didn't have anything to...

Do you like the 5-speed tranny?

4th gear around town I like the 5 speed tranny just fine. Driving around town when the speeds are 35 to 40 MPH it did tend to drag or labor a bit. The RPMs were down close to 1000 or so at 35'ish MPH. I've gotten in the habit of keeping it in 4th for around town driving, only using 5th when...

    Frame rubbing on spare

I had the fun this weekend of learning to change a tire on the 4R. If you have not already done so, get your change kit out and loosen the phillips head screws that are painted over. I was close enough to some but it would be a big pain out in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, the spare had rub...

Newbie Needs Advice on Buying Dilema

XREAS suspension I have an 06 SE with the XREAS and like the ride a lot. XREAS puts the "sport" in Sport Edition. It might be marginally firmer than the standard but I have definitely noticed that it holds level very well when I have had to make a (rare) quick turn or U turn.

How does my mileage compare to yours?

T4R mileage Mine is a 2006 V6 2WD SE with just over 3500 miles. Since I work from home so there isn't any commuting for me. Easy drivingdriving around town, seldom above 2000 RPM for errands and such gets 17-18 MPG and on the highway I consistently get 21 or a little better at 70-75-80
