Frame rubbing on spare

I had the fun this weekend of learning to change a tire on the 4R. If you have not already done so, get your change kit out and loosen the phillips head screws that are painted over. I was close enough to some but it would be a big pain out in the middle of nowhere.
Anyway, the spare had rub marks where it was drawn up against the frame and it seems this might become a problem over enough time and miles.
Is anyone putting anything between the frame and tire for sacrificial purposes? Loosen the cable/crank a bit? Tighten it a bit more?
Anyone doing anything to prevent rubbing through the sidewalls?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You could try to lower the spare, and put something between it and the rails, but I think it would be too much of a PITA. I swap my spare out every spring when I rotate the summer set of tires. So far, the marks dissapear in a short while. I wouldn't recommend loosening the support cable, or the wheel could start moving around under there.

Like TechWrench said, I wouldnt worry about it. Besides those are not rub marks the're just compression imprints from the frame, wash the wheel & tire, drive around for few days and those marks will dissapear.

Yeah it isn't a problem. I've been rotating in the spare every 5K and no issues. The mark goes away after a while. If it really bothers you, I guess you could rotate the spare underneath the truck every week so it doesn't sit in one spot too long.
