I upgraded my 87 4Runner with Cibie H4 housings and a relay harness from Daniel Stern. https://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/products.html The Cibie H4 will give you much better headlights for normal driving. They are E-Code, not US DOT glass, so some might not be able to use these where...

This is not a great pic, but it shows where my wires and fuse are. I decided not to try wiring in under the fusebox into the fusible link wire. My power is supplied to Pin 4 of the starter relay connector from a direct to battery connection (one of the red 12 guage wires) to the New Fuse...

RAD4Runner, I just signed up for this forum so that I could say thanks for your commitment and knowledge posted in this thread. I've recently purchased an 87 4Runner and it had the starter wiring defect, which I've already corrected thanks to this thread. Dave
