to answer previous questions, the car runs totally normal otherwise. no codes, shifts smooth, etc.
the motor doesnt die at redline. this is whats strange. if i redline through 1st and second itll die approx. 10 seconds into 3rd gear. and it just turns off and keep coasting. all the lights come on and the power stearing and brakes die. all i have to do then is put the truck in park and then...
lately ive been doing some spirited driving (read: flooring it to redline) and the car will just shut off shortly after. Now ofcourse the easy answer is stop driving like an idiot but i also am curious why this has started happening and what sort of maintenance should i perform to help with this...
heres what i did.
similar situation for me.
went to napa and got refurbished toyota cv's. they were $57/ each side. (with core return)
they come rebooted, regreased. i wouldnt bother with a new boot kit if theyre clicking... id go with all new axles.
as for the diff oil... a tiny amount came...
no need for snap ring plies. the snap rings dont put up much of a fight. regular pliers will do the trick.
no need for a grease gun... just have some grease to lube the splines when putting the new axles in
no need for the BFH... a rubber mallet and a regular hammer do just fine
if you cant find...
With all this talk of lower ball joints lately, I decided to go check mine tonight and found something I wasn't expecting.... I'm missing one of the four bolts on my drivers side lower ball joint... My only guess is shoty work by a mechanic from the previous owner?! My question to you guys is...
im in serious need of the vents for the center console of my 97 4runner. I imagine they're the same from 96-02... just the actual vent pieces with the appropriate little bracket bits to keep them in your dash console.
