I suppose if you did a little measuring, you could find a junk one off a late model RWD car that has the rear diff cover and just use that......

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but Toyota trucks don't have the conventional rear diff housing. It's a full third member that is bolted into the front of the axle housing. There is no rear diff cover, it's just part of the axle housing.... I guess you could replace the whole axle housing????

Also.... I tried removing the neg battery cable and let the vehicle sit for a few hours in hopes that it would reset whatever was causing the problem... Never did work for me.

I JUST had this same problem on my 03 sport. I would go to close the hatch, the mechanism would suck the door shut, wait a second, and then spit it back out. I took the whole lock mechanism out, inspected it and finally decided that it had to be the positioning switch on the actuator itself...

Not sure what I think. Is the wheel base actually shorter???

Sounds like a deal to me, for an every day driver or an off-road vehicle. Is there something wrong with it you're not telling us?????????

I bought a 99 4runner that had that same probelm during a test drive. The dealer took the 4runner in, had it fixed, and never had the problem again. Must have been relatively inexpensive if he was willing to pay to have it fixed, and sell it to me at what I thought was a decent price at the...

no, not wind noise, just the rattle whenever ya hit bumps or there's a vibration caused by rough roads.....

not really sure what to think of the pics. Kinda looks too much like a hylander from the front w/ the slanted headlights. (not that I dislike the hylander) Definately boxier than the 4th gen. I guess we'll have to see when it's sitting in front of me.

Does anyone have a write up on how to perform the fix on the moonroof to get rid of the rattle?

I've spent what seems like hours looking for the information I need. I found it, problem is, all the pictures have been long since removed. Anyone have a tutorial or pics showing how to perform the infamous sunroof rattle fix? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
