Yeah, it is compatible. I used to have one hooked up to my avn5435, but I returned it because it was hard to use. The avn5435 is basically the same as the newer avn5500 which Eclipse lists as being compatible. Crutchfield has the manual posted on their website here...

I actually thought it was pretty responsive when I used it. I mean, it wasn't as fast as using the interface on the ipod itself, but it didn't seem slow at all. I was using it with my 5G ipod.

I used to have the eclipse ipc-106 adapter for my avn5435 but I returned it because it was clunky and hard to use. To get it to work, I used the amended instructions (separate piece of paper) that came with the unit because the original manual had some typos. I forget the dipswitch settings...
