AVN5500 updated DVD in AVN5435

Yeah, it might just be a bad burn because even my computer took awhile to load it compared to the original 1.2 Eclipse disc. I noticed it was burned on a DVD+R DL disc. Maybe it would work better on a DVD-R DL disc? I might get some blanks and re-burn it just to see.

there's 2 20amp fuses for the radio is under hood driver side, it easy to find it label as radio no.1 and radio no.2 just look at flipside of the fuse box cover. yes i did try remove the fuse and put it back in to reset the hu but the new map wouldn't load at all.

How do you access the secret menu?

I wasn't able to. When I hit the "Loading" button on the hidden menu, it said "check map disc". Using the original 1.2 disc worked fine though and it seemed to reload the original firmware and set everything back to the system defaults.
mit_peid, were you able to get it to work using that menu?

Once you update to a new disc, I don't know if it revert back to the old one.
But there are a few version out. Like you mentioned above: 1.2 was the 5435, 1.3 is the 5500. There is a version 2.0 which is made for the 6600. the vesion 1.4 is sold seperately with firmware update and some little other stuff.
I read up at a Corvette Forum that once a firmware is updated, they're not sure if it can revert itself.
Once you update to a new disc, I don't know if it revert back to the old one.

Yes. I was able to get it working fine again with v1.2.
I'm not sure if v1.3 ever had any updated firmware. Once I took out the burnt v1.3 disc and reloaded v1.2 everything worked fine again.
I had to set all my settings again (turn off the annoying beap) but I don't think it has any issues going from the different discs.

i am currently using the burnt 1.3 DVD+R DL disc in my 5500 with no problems. maybe v1.3 just isnt compatible with the 5435 ? also have you people noticed very poor gps reception when it rains\snow's or is it just me ? DAMN CLOUDS

I'm currently using a burnt v1.4 disc and it works very well. The MP3 functionality seems to work a little better and filenames now come in upper AND lower case.
Street mapping (75 ft maps) with buildings in major metropolis type areas (ie downtown LA) seems to work good as well.
Does anybody know how to get the wallpaper function to work?

I just got a burnt disc from seconds2none and it's working great also. Here's a link from another forum with instructions on how to change the load up graphic:

Too bad there's no way to change the wallpaper , but this is better than nothing I guess.

I signed up on this forum to respond to this thread. I can confirm that the update does indeed enable the AVN2454 to use the Sirius tuner.

Make sure you have the lan cable plugged into the "out" port on the Sirius tuner. Also, when you inserted the 1.4 disc did it give you the message saying system loading?

Yes I have the AVN2454 as well. I would check the yellow battery wire and ground on the Sirius module. It sounds like it is not powering on. The lan cable definately belongs on the out port. You could try unplugging your hu and then reinstalling the 1.4 DVD and see if it loads the update this time.

Also, the right-angle end of the lan cable should be plugged into the sirius module and the straight end into the hu. I'm not sure if it matters though.
