AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

Re: running boards I gave the running boards a month-long trial to see if I could get used to them. I couldn't. They always seemed to be in the way, and they got my pants dirty stepping over them. After I took them them off, I found the vehicle looked a lot better without them!

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

Right. The point of this thread is that the only way I could get the Bridgestone Revos that I've used on past vehicles was to upsize to 275/65 R18. That's an inch larger in diameter, so I decided not to do it and try these stock-sized Michelins instead. Yesterday I drove 250 freeway miles on...

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

After several searches, I found a post that told me that just attaching a jpg would include it in the message. My mistake was trying to preview, which apparently doesn't work. So, here are the Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires on my 4Runner. If they look good, it is probably because there is no...

I looked in the faq to see how to post pictures, but I don't see anything. Do I have to put the picture on a web server and embed a link in the message?

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

Thank you all for your input. I bought the Michelin LTX A/T 2. I only have about a mile on them, so all I can report is that they look good. If my brain workings allow it, I'll add some additional observations after I've used them in different conditions. I think trading wheels for 17's...

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

You're right of course, Joe, and I tried to give hints of my usage in the original post. Off-roading is important to me, but I also have a Jeep Wrangler so the 4Runner is for lighter duty. It is especially good for a trip to, say, Death Valley where there is lots of long, fast highway coupled...

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

Thanks to you all for the input. I had looked at Tire Rack, which currently rates the Michelin LTX A/T 2 highest, although with small number of reviews. I've also no found some Consumer Reports data. Their opinion is probably sound, but they don't test that many different tires. They rank...

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

Alternate sizes Wow, this board is awesome. I would like snow tires, but that is far from the primary consideration. And the chain inspectors never look at that stuff. K.C, I considered changing size, but the closest size Revos come in is 275/65 R18 which are an inch bigger. The 265/65...

AT tires for an 06 Limited (18 inch wheels)

It is finally time for me to get some tires for my 2006 Limited. I figured I'd just by Bridgestone Revos because I had good experience with them on my Grand Cherokee a few years ago. But no. The Limited model comes with 18" rims and wants 265/60 R18 tires -- H rated! You can't get Revos in...

    4Runner vs FJ Cruiser

It looks like there will always be plenty of material to keep this thread going. I was disappointed in the FJ because you have to give up so much on-road quality for what I judge to be a pretty minor gain in off-road ability. I decided I needed two cars... I use my 4Runner to go back and...

Success, I think! I made the DVD as described. I just used the Sonic RecordNow software that came with my Dell computer. I first tried the new DVD to see if I could do normal functions. That worked, so I killed the brain in the nav system by pulling the two radio fuses under the hood for ten...

Usually my problem is underthinking, so this may actually be a sign of progress. If the hack worked for you, I'll give it a try. My impression was that the nav bug was also in the loading.kwi file, so I would be restoring the bug. I guess that conclusion was unjustified, though. Thanks very...

Uneek: Thank you for providing this link! I see there is more info out there than I realized. I read through the entire thread and learned lots of interesting stuff. In the end, though, I don't think the modified disc would work for me. My nav was definitely having a problem with the older...

Thanks, ProMed. I'm happy to think everything is square and my nav is working great. The only irritation is loss of the override function, which my wife and I used frequently.

Unfortunately, the dealer didn't give me the old disc back. That was one of the reasons I was suspicious. Since they fixed the problem for free, I don't feel like I have any grounds to complain unless they gave me the wrong disc in the end.
