double check and make sure the knock sensor wires alright. it runs up through the bottom of the intake on the right side. they tend to kink and crack.

unplugged the maf and seemed to fall into fail safe and smoothed out. may be maf?

its in the back behind the intake manifold on the water by pass outlet on the right.

Update...checked the intake from the throttle body to the filter. No cracks. Sprayed along all vacuum lines with brake clean. Found no leaks. Now it smells like gunpowder after running for awhile. Any ideas?

Hey all. I have a 94 3VZE 4runner, auto, 2wd. I recently replaced the head gaskets. Before I replaced them I noticed that the idle would drop real low and stall out on stops. After replacing the head gaskets I made sure the timing was correct and that I had replaced anything that was corroded...

No. Just remove the Plenum and intake manifold an its right there in the middle.

May need to be bled. Or could be a brake booster.

Im currently doing head gaskets on my 3.0. I need to take the cams off to get to the head bolts. No matter how hard I try I cannot get the bolts off the timing gears loose. It makes me think if there right hand threaded. Any suggestions?

I know my 3.0 gets real hot but I also live in the desert. Donno if the blanket is helping much.
