3VZE idle fluctuating while in gear

Hey all. I have a 94 3VZE 4runner, auto, 2wd. I recently replaced the head gaskets. Before I replaced them I noticed that the idle would drop real low and stall out on stops. After replacing the head gaskets I made sure the timing was correct and that I had replaced anything that was corroded and broken. I fire her up and still the idle will steady out around 1200-1300 rpms in park. once I throw it into reverse or drive the idle reduces down to 300-500 rpms and then eventually stalls out if I dont rev it up. I replaced the spark plugs, checked the distributor (its fine), checked the spark plug wires, checked for vacuum leaks. I know that only sometimes the check engine light will appear but will go away. unfortunatly I dont have a code reader. I heard about seafoam but I doubt that thatll work. Any suggestions would be great.

check air intake tubes(hoses) between air flow meter and throttlebody sounds like one of them is cracked. remove them and then bend em check for cracks.

Update...checked the intake from the throttle body to the filter. No cracks. Sprayed along all vacuum lines with brake clean. Found no leaks. Now it smells like gunpowder after running for awhile. Any ideas?

unplugged the maf and seemed to fall into fail safe and smoothed out. may be maf?

Hi,
I have a 1992 4runner 3.0 V6 4wd/Automatic with the same symptoms. This has not happened many times at the present stage, but I will monitor this thread in order to hopefully see your outcome.
