    Maybe a stupid shock question

Yeah, there are NO shocks in the rear. Apparently (the story may have gotten mixed up somewhere along the line) he took it to a shop to have the brakes and some other stuff done. He said the shop said the shocks were broken, so the shop went ahead and took them off. Now of course, it being a...

    Some ?'s about CB Equip.

First off, DON'T buy any antenna from Radio Shack... They suck, period. I've got a K30 mag mount antenna on my Dodge, and I've got it tuned to about 1.3 swr across the board (Ideal swr is 1.1). You will want to buy a SWR meter, as tuning without it is nearly impossible. Just buy one off of...

    Maybe a stupid shock question

Hey guys, It's been awhile... Last time I posted it was cause of a little oil change mishap. Lol. Anyways, the time has come to help my buddy out with his 4runner. It recently turned 200k and I told him we ought to go over it and check some things. So I climbed under it one day and noticed...

    P0420 Question

Yeah, I was leaning toward the cat being bad on mine, but then it went away and stayed away. I was debating a hi flow cat, but decided not to since it's been staying away. Actually I wouldn't mind just gutting the cat altogether, but I don't have the connections to get it to pass emissions that...

    P0420 Question

Interesting... My dodge threw a P0420, and I went ahead and reset it. It stayed off for about 4 months, and it came on again. I reset it for a second time and now, 8 months later, it's still off. I haven't noticed any change in gas mileage or anything. Oh and I passed emissions a few months back...

    Need help quick

ALRIGHT... It's all better. Here's what happened: The manual says 2.1 quarts of tranny fluid should be used when you are doing just a change like I did. However, there was apparently an error in printing or somewhere else along the line, and the correct amount is actually 4 to 5 quarts. The...

But why would so much fluid come out, and then when I put not nearly the amount that came out back in it shows overfilled on the dipstick? It's going to have to be driven until tomorrow, but he is going to drive slowly and avoid making it slip into first. All other gears shift up and down fine...

    Need help quick

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. I put Castrol Import Multi-vehicle automatic transmission fluid in. That's all the local auto parts place had for imports it says it's a Dexron III substitute on the back. The Dexron III they had was for GM and/or Ford only. And another update: I am completely...

    Need help quick

Update: We put 2 quarts of ATF 3 back in it, the owners manual only says like 2.1 quarts. Do you think I should put more back in? It looks like more that 2 quarts came out.

So I only need a few quarts of new tranny fluid then? My understanding is I only drained about 30%. It's okay to just add some of the new fluid?

Yeah... I thought I was draining the oil whoops hahaha. You don't know how much new tranny fluid I need though? And I don't need to drain the rest?

    Need help quick

Hey guys, well we were changing the oil today on the 99 4runner and one thing led to another and now were changing the tranny fluid too (and running out of daylight where the truck is located). Is it basically just a matter of draining the old stuff and putting the new fluid in? What kind, and...

New guy needs a little help.

Good call, that totally skipped my mind. What kind of plugs are the best for these engines? My Dodge performs the best with Autolite 3923's. Any specific brand plugs? What size wires do you run? 7 or 8 mm? I know these are probably all noob questions, sorry haha.

Will do, thanks. How much of a pain are the ball joints on these trucks? I know on Dodge's (from experience) that they're a pain, but no idea on a 4runner. I'd imagine ball joints are one of those things that are a PITA no matter what vehicle you're working on.
