    A_S_R's Build Thread

Everything looks really good ASR. Good to hear from you. Still got my 2008. Lift has held up good. Towed 9,000 miles out West and now a boat. Just changing the oil and keeping her waxed. Best regards, Doug

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Put a new set of front brake pads on. Pins were a little rusted, a punch was the trick to get them out. I didn't buy new pins, so I cleaned the old ones up with my angel sander. Everything seemed to go together fine, good design for maintenance. The pads seemed to have a coating on the back and...

    Rear Brake Pad Procedure

Thank you men. I would have guessed wrong. I thought those may unbolt the 2 halves of the calipers. Yes, I was wondering about whether these needed replacement. After my searches, I seen its not abnormal to change the fronts 2x the rears. So, I'll hold these until I change the fronts again...

    Rear Brake Pad Procedure

Hey guys, I am finding a lot of video and write ups on front pad replacement, but looking for something on the rears. I got the fronts done fine. What bolts do I take out in the rear? It's a different set up than the front. The pads just come out of the front of the caliper? Thanks for the...

    Brake Pads/Rotors Recommendation

After reading threads on this, I just ordered a full set of OEM online for $117. Saved about $50 over Dealer pricing. Should arrive today. Doug

    stiffer springs?

What is your objective? FJ springs are stiffer and only give you about 1/2" of lift. Hardly noticeable. otherwise you could just install some stiffer shocks. Maybe Bilstein 5100 HD's

    Suspension Help!

Yes, Looks like you want to find 03-09 FJ Coils You may want to call these guys. I noticed AJUSA doesn't sell coil springs. https://www.allprooffroad.com/fjrearsuspension/45 951-658-7077 Anyways, on to the info. (Disclaimer: I am just organizing information here so it is easy to find, not...

    Suspension Help!

OEM FJ Springs: • Springs from a 03-09 FJ Cruiser are a direct swap to the 4th Gen 4runner. • These provide on average ½”-1” lift on the front, ¼”- ½” lift on the rear, depending on if you have a v6 or v8 engine and 2wd or 4wd. • Most people buy them used from FJ owners who’ve upgraded • More...

    Suspension Help!

Oh, I can see buying the FJ coils used, but the Bilsteins are harder to find. They're not too expensive and I figured you would buy them new. Looking in the Suspension sticky, FJ coils from 2007+ fit all 4th Gens. Hope that helps. ASR and others should be on here later tonight. Best regards...

    Suspension Help!

Sounds like you'll be fine for the towing aspect of it. You may be able to run the front Bilsteins at the 0 setting with the FJ coils. Otherwise you can just move them up to the 1.25 I believe is the next setting. I'd like to change my Jayco 165 Sport wheels to 15", but I beleive there is...

    Suspension Help!

You could call AJUSA (800) 877-1911 Tell them what you have and they will make sure you get the right parts. The Bilstein 5100's with the FJ coils will probably lift you a 1/2" in the rear and the ride will be a little more stiff than stock. If you need any lift in the front, the 5100's provide...

    V6 Oil Change 101

Did my 2008 V6 recently. Not a big deal. I had a rubber access plug in the skid plate that allows you to remove the drain plug without removing skid plate. Drain the oil, reinstall drain plug and rubber access cover. Put a small cup under the drain hole where the filter is mounted. This will...

    Reverse lights. Not bright enough

I picked up some 55w white fog lamps from Walmart. I originally mounted them about 12" on each side of the factory hitch. They help quite a bit, but I think they needed to be moved outboard. Last weekend, I installed a hidden hitch. That casued me to have to relocate my lights. I ended up...

    How to refinish interior plastics?

Check with a local detail shop. I looked at a 4Runner at the dealer with quite a few scratches like your describing on the passenger dash side and in the rear. They had a detail guys come in and it looked like new. I would guess they used a heat gun and some textured release fabric. Just a...
