"Official" 5th Gen 4Runner Sales Thread

with sales numbers like these i don't see a reason as to why toyota would be in such a hurry to introduce a sixth generation...just a thought. that age old mantra, if it ain't broke don't fix. hard to believe but i believe this truck was introduced 10 years ago.

Cavalry Blue 2018 TRD PRO Sighted

BlackRifleWorks You drove it home with all the tags, stickers intact? (not to mention the plastic seat cover). Aren't they supposed to do a pre-delivery inspection prior to you driving it off the lot?

here are sales numbers for all midsize suv's during the first six months of the year, to put things into perspective. There is most definitely a market for BOF vehicles considering how well the 4R is doing compared to its rivals. Keep in mind a good portion of Explorer sales consists of fleet...

but their sales numbers are hardly anything to brag about considering that both of toyota's midsize suv's (highlander and 4R) easily outsells their midsize offerings, mainly the pathfinder and murano. they should have kept at least one midsize bof suv (either pathfinder or xterra) to compete...

My thoughts exactly upon seeing the redesigned Pathfinder when it first came out. They essentially turned their midsize BOF SUV into a midsize minivan to compete with the Murano and Quest. LOL!! Who was the marketing genius behind it all?!

    4Runner size?

I did the same, and absolutely agree with your statement about the 3rd gen being more nimble. That was partly due to the fact that it went from a compact SUV to a midsizer. Not only is the the 5th gen bigger in every dimensions, but also considerably heavier...and so it loss all the nimbleness...

    5th gens sales keep climbing

Actually the Armada would be a closer competitor to the Land Cruiser, size wise, and they are generally regarded as the vehicle of choice when it comes to off-roading in many parts of the world... Middle East, Africa, Australia..and many others. The UN uses Land Cruisers solely for their peace...

    5th gens sales keep climbing

Correct. The previous Armada was based on the Titan platform.. However, I am referring to the newly introduced Armada for 2017, it is sold in other world markets under the Patrol name which has a long history..I believe as far as back as the Land Cruiser. I lived in Australia for a short while...

The new Nissan Armada is actually a Nissan Patrol in other markets, it is one of the most capable off-road vehicle you can buy aside from the Land Cruisers and Range Rovers of the world.

We had a little storm last night, the 4Runner took a bit of damage...

I am not sure if this has been brought up and it may sound obvious, but as soon as you notice the hail start coming down why didn't you pull the truck into the garage? If that is not an option, at least try covering it with a tarp or something to lessen the damage.

April 2016 saw 5 digit sales for the Toyota 4Runner for the first time

True. I thought about this a little while back...since the FJ is no longer available, then fans of Toyota SUVs will now have to go with the T4R.
