I suspect your right. I just found it interesting when I replaced my transmission how specific they were about the filter. But that transmission build tremendous heat too. I think that as long as you have a filter, you are ahead of the game.
Ford uses this filter when they rebuild Superdutys with the 4R100 transmission. If you buy a factory reman, they WILL NOT WARRENTY it if the filter is not plumed AFTER the coolers and before the transmission. I would guess that they have some sort legitimate reason.
I know for a FACT that...
I am a BIG fan of Hawk LTS pads. I haven't put them on my 4runner yet but I have had them on several of my trucks and haven't been happier with any other pad. They do need bedded in properly, but if you do start to get pulsing, they are easy to rebed and smooth them back out.
You definitely need a continuous duty solenoid. A standard remote starting solenoid (Ford uses them in trucks for years) are only meant to be on while the starter is turning. (20 seconds or so) The coil that closes the circuit will over heat if left on for long periods of time. Continuous...
It should hold second in 2 HI also. When I lived up north shifting to 2nd was very common on all of my automatics to avoid wheel spin when starting from a complete standstill. I have yet to drive any automatic that did not have this feature.
I have four 3 ton stands and two 6 ton jack stands. When I lift the front only I apply the parking brake and use two 3 ton. I use the 6 ton for the rear and chock the front wheels. If I lift the entire truck I use the 3 ton in the front and the 6 ton in the back.
