2 weeks into owning my '02 4runner, kid kicks his ball out into the narrow street between park cars. I see it and "start" to brake then the kids runs out and I had to put in on three wheels (felt the rear passenger wheel come down). To this day, without the VSC and ABS working in combination...

Poppin in to L$, my '02 4runner grinds a very little with tranny in N. Poppin out no grind.

Thanks for the reply. I will be doing this shortly. I have the 2001 4runner Sport. I'm running the beaches of south Jersey, doing surf fishing. I occasionally have to "cross" a tidal creek. What about your wheel bearings - any concern for them doing a few water crossings?

Anybody know of rear diff protector and/or truss available for 2001 4Runner? Do alot beach driving and climb some jetties and or avoid wood piling tips. Look for full protector that will cover diff and rear prop shaft uni joint.

Anybody change thier own diff/transfer case fluids? Do you use stock Toyota fluids? If not, what do you use (I'm planning t use CRC brand Sta-Lube 85-145 gear oil - gives me better temp range variablity between diff changes. Any body recommend LSD fluid in the diff's (don't think Toyo...

Thinking about installing extended breathers myself. Where did you purchase? How was the install? Any pics you can provide? Where did you put the breather/filter? Did you put a breather on the front diff? What about axle bearing seals - do you worry about water getting in the front hubs?

Am I correct that the new V8 4-Runner has full-time 4wd standard and the V6 has the part-time 4wd (like 3rd generation). Also the V8 has the same tow capacity as the V6 (5,000 lbs)? Gas tank has been upgraded to 23 gallons. Personally I like the V6 :confused:
