Why not just look under the front end for anything that's broken? Lower ball joint, steering tie rods, CV joints, etc.

I'd imagine it would take all of 5 minutes to remove the rear wheels and rotate the parking brake down a few clicks and test by rotating the hubs, they should spin relatively easy. (both wheels in the air, of course) And then go for a drive. If that doesn't fix it, check your wheels again...

Just watch out for the hood release mounting clip. If you're not careful you'll snap the small plastic clip. Otherwise the nuts might be rusted on there and you'll snap the bolt off at the end if you use too much torque to remove them. If you're replacing the grill, then it doesn't matter...

You should also check your calipers if they're seized or not. Most 4th Gen 4runners experience frozen calipers, it's almost guaranteed if they're originals.
