Tim, let me share a few thoughts as someone who has owned 7 BMW cars and 6 Toyota trucks/SUVs... The genesis of this thread was my suggestion after seeing a bunch of 3rd gen guys with BMWs post in a thread about manual transmissions. This makes sense. Drivers love BMWs and manual transmissions...

Yes, an auto is probably easier in all situations, just push the pedal and go. My BMW and Yotas include... -Me: E39 M5 Dinan S2 and a 3rd Gen 4R -Wife: E92 335i, a 100 Series Cruiser and a 3rd Gen Taco (and a pre-BMW 1971 Mini coming over from England :) ) Real world Subaru gas mileage...

I had a 95.5 extended cab Taco (3.4, 5MT) and was going to move to a 1st gen double cab Taco which only came in auto, so wanted to do a swap. A local shop said that they would do the swap for $2600 all in (used tranny and transfer case, all new clutch parts, all Toyota factory swap-over...

It was a toss up between mad and sad...~15 years and 250k. I've been eyeing that one, but was hoping I could reset the clock so to speak and roll back to 150-175k. I want to keep this for life (seriously), so starting lower helps. I sold my Taco at 250k, so I'm not sure what life after 250k...

I had my 2000 Sport Edition since 9k miles and someone just totaled it for me (not my fault). I've been looking since December and can't find what I want, so I thought maybe one of you would want to sell me yours or knew someone selling. Here is my wish list... Must Have: 1999 or 2000, 4x4...

Hilarious. I'm still laughing at my computer and my wife thinks I'm weird.

I sold my 95.5 Taco with 250k for $8k last year. I paid $11.5 for it in 2001 with 50k. How does that make sense? So I bought a new Taco for my wife last year for about $3k more than used ones with 50k. Crazy.

What about using the Cobra 75WXST and mounting it under your seat? Search headliner or roof reinforcement to see pics of someone that's removed the headliner (not sure which gen you have). The roof is basically 1 layer but has ribs running widthwise you can mount to.

Its been years, but I used to have Backcountry Navigator when I had an Android phone. Check it out. Also, EXPO and ADVrider have great GPS resources.
