What still kind of surprises me here is that if the engine hears audible pinging it should dial back the timing to effectively reduce it. Why is this not happening? I am assuming that these engines use knock sensors but I could be wrong. If anyone wants to know what pinging does to an engine...

I used two 1/4 in spacers to help mine sit flat.

While running the wire to the amp, you could bring a 14ga wire to ground the factory head unit to the amp. That will reduce your chance of noise.

Did you by chance splice into the front speaker wires without disconnecting the internal amp of the head unit?

I took a road trip yesterday to grab some speakers. By the time I got to my destination my drink was a bit warmer. Back in my dealership days, we used to get conversion trucks in that had cup cooler/warmers in them. They still have to be out there.
