If your EGR valve opens before the engine gets warm, it can cause that type of problem. I'm no expert, but there should be some type of thermostatically controlled valve that interupts vacuum to the EGR valve until the engine reaches normal operating temperature. That valve may be opening too...

I recently bought an 88 4runner, and the rear seat has lap belts only. Does anyone know of a source for combination lap and shoulder belts for it?

Thanks for the replies - I will look into finding a replacement top. That may turn out to be my best option.

The top has fiberglass fibers showing since the paint on the top has worn away. I got a quote from a local Line-x dealer of $350 to spray it, so I'm looking for alternatives.

My recently purchased 88 4runner's fiberglass top is in rough shape, and I am considering a spray on or "do it yourself" bedliner coating on it. Anyone have any experience with this?
