Rear Seat Belts?

I recently bought an 88 4runner, and the rear seat has lap belts only. Does anyone know of a source for combination lap and shoulder belts for it?

I remember reading a while ago that ther dealer has the shoulder belt setup available. There is only one part number but it works on both sides. I don't remember where it was that I read it though. Good luck with it.

i've read the dealer is a source, too.

and that the left and right side use the same part number.

That looks like it might be the way to go. On the subject of seatbelts, Mine (the front ones) are not retracting as well as they should. Is there any way to rebuild them or are they best left alone or replaced?

Not sure if you can rebuild but this is one of those parts you can snag from any toyota vehicle.. Did this to a single cab truck I had. Bought the truck with brown interior swapped everything over to gray. Just be careful with the lower panels as to not break them. I think I pulled my belts from a camry of the early 90's... The belts in the pic "look" like stock toy seat belts and that they might work.. Oh and be careful of the plastic caps on the top shoulder harness they tend to break easy..

Actually the retractor part can be reworked. I saw a how-to article a few years ago. I'm trying to find it now because mine needs it too.

On another note, does anybody know the bolt diameter and thread pitch for the upper mount on the roll bar? I want to make my own hi-lift mount, but can't seem to find a bolt that fits. An older tech at my local dealership told me it might be an 11x1.25, but that is a virtually unheard of size.

As for your question, that threaded insert in the roll bar is the mount for the rear seat shoulder harness. Optional in the US, mandatory in Canada and elsewhere. To that end it had to conform to US standards, so it's an SAE thread. Can't remember which, but it's 5/16, 7/16, or 9/16 Fine thread. Not Metric.

I thought so, but a 7/16" x 20 tpi just doesn't seem to fit. It's very close though. Maybe I'll e-mail 4crawler and see if he'll tell me. I just can't justify $20 plus shipping for a piece of all-thread, a long nut, and a wing nut and some washers.
