That totally sucks! I am sorry to hear that. The main reason I advocate 'non-digital' versions of the FSM is that I need to have that info right there in the garage, and I don't want grease all over the laptop!

After some degreaser and elbow grease, it is a little cleaner. There is still much more cleaning to do. I figure since I have it out I will pretty it up a bit. Maybe even through a coat of paint on there before I put it back in.

Success! So after my last post we went to the garage and started getting physical with it! After a few good heaves and a delicate ballet of jacks and jack stands, we were able to get the whole transmission assembly out.

Update I do have the tools... mental and otherwise :-) So I started to drop the transmission last night. I have both drive shafts removed (properly marked of course) and have removed all the engine bolts (a complete pain in the butt!), removed brackets and exhaust (nearly rusted solid) and...

I have to change out my clutch, can anyone comment on whether it would be worth the trouble to do it myself or pay a garage to do it for me. I have the 22RE EFI, with 4WD. I also own a FSM (and have read it, so I understand on paper what needs to happen). But has anyone actually done one...

That would be the way to go. Also, It might be possible to close the whole 'box' in by custom fitting a board just aft of the seat belts in the rear. Some creative caulking and your in there!! :-)

It would be possible to mount a 10" sub woofer where the right side access panel is instead of cutting a whole for the access, just cut the mount hole for the speaker. I would recommend using 1/2" plywood instead of the 1/4" I used. I don't think 1/4" would support the weight of the magnet...
