The usual diagnostic tool is a few feet of tubing. Hold one end to your ear and move the other end around to see if you can localize the leak. Then spray some soapy water in the area if it isn’t obvious.

Dropped it off at a shop to have a rusty spot in the frame welded up. They didn’t think it was necessary: but it bugged me!

Polyurethane holds up to battery acid OK but probably won’t take under hood temps well. HDPE is probably a better choice.
