my'85 2.4D has black oil in the radiator. the motor seems to run quite well. Is it possible that oil can get into the cooling system at the oil cooler. maybe due to there being some welch plugs in that area?

My '85 2.4D has black oil in the radiator but still runs ok. Is is possible for sump oil to get into the cooling system through the oil cooler or the welch plugs in that area. I suspect a cracked head but I could use some feedback before I remove the head unnecessarily.

Thanks for the good advice. I ended up dismantling the drag link which was oily and easy to undo. I inserted a washer behind the rear spring and behind the front cup. This maintained the static length of the drag link. It now feels as good as new.
