Try looking at the maf sensor

So I think I installed u joint upside I been having a slight vibration every since. My u joint zerk and my slip yoke zerk are on opposite ends. Can this be the reason for my vibration?

Mine did it no matter what gear I was in. If the engine was running that noise would be apparent. Also it did not get louder as I Reved it up. It stood the same no matter what

Just wanted to update this. It ended being the alternator!! Thank you guys for the guidance. Swap it out for a junkyard oem and the sound is gone!! Thanks guys!

The sound stays on from start up it does not go away when warmed up at all. It gets louder as I increase rpms. The steering feels fine. Ps fluid looks good. I did drive thru a big puddle of mud last time I drove it before it was sitting. Not sure if mud got in somewhere

I can only imagine how frustrated your buddy was especially once he realized he bent things up. Cutting them should definitely be the standard procedure! I'm glad I'm done with that repair. Now my runner starts and shuts right off, time to figure this one out now Thinking either the fuel...

yup took me 2 hours of fustration before i realized I need to just cut the damn things

I also had a gas leak that i would smell only on cold starts. I started looking around and noticed gas slowly dripping down the back of the engine. I had a o ring on the injectors go bad. I think it was leaking the whole time i would be driving, but with the engine hot it would evaporate...

I wanted to update this thread! I got the new ujoint from Toyota poped it in and no more squaks!! I had a hell of a time getting all the caps off. I ended up taking a angle grinder to them to save the hassle. If your having a hard time with the caps just cut them!!

So after playing with it a bit more it definitely sounds like it's coming from the u joint that butts up against the rear diff. I like to go with Toyota parts so I may have to wait till Tuesday to get a replacement. I will update once I swap them out. Thank you guys!

Hi guys, I have a 97 and recently developed a driveshaft squeak. I greased all the zerks and even sprayed wd40 in hopes it would silence it but nothing has worked. It seems to get lounder when trans is in reverse. When im driving i will slip it into neutral and the sound goes away but comes...

I figured that Do I just turn the cam to try to straighten out the crooked wheel?

I replaced the lower control arm bushing on 97 4runner now my wheels are super crooked I marked them to put them back in correctly Now one wheel is straight and the other one is pointed inward ( like the steering wheel is turning) Did I do something wrong Thanks for the help
