    Gauge needles sweeping & gas gauge kaput

    Follow-up. Problem cause found. Problem solved. Turned out to be the gauge cluster connector not making a complete connection. Apparently the cluster sections bolt together and the nuts had not been tightened adequately at the factory. The sections were slowly separating as the nuts loosened...

    Gauge needles sweeping & gas gauge kaput

    Uneek, Yeah, the needles in all the gauges sweep back and forth 6 times before settling down. And, like I said, the fuel gauge needle parks below the E mark. As far as the Lexus/Scion you mention, did the needles sweep multiple times? And if so, do you know what caused this? Thanks!

    Gauge needles sweeping & gas gauge kaput

    On my 2006, V8 4Runner, when I turn on the key all the gauge needles sweep back and forth about a half dozen times and finally settle back to where they should be except for the gas gauge. The needle on that gauge drops to below E and just stays there regardless of how much fuel in the tank...
