You know, we might actually be mostly in agreement. I also greatly prefer gasoline to diesel. However, I also greatly prefer NA to turbocharged. My comment was specifically talking about when a turbo is introduced into the equation.

I don't think people would be worried if it was a turbo diesel since most diesel applications are very robust. Unfortunately, diesel cars have virtually disappeared in the US and we only get turbocharged engines that run on regular gasoline.

Like you, ADVICS seems to be the Tahara assembly line supplier. ADVICS pads and calipers came on my GX, made on the same exact line as the 5th Gen.. IMHO, when you need to do brakes, if at all possible, buy the Toyota factory pads 04465 for front, 04466 for rear and five numbers...

Nothing wrong with a station wagon. BMW put out several back in the day that were well worth owning. I only can't stomach the full-size wagons like the Ford Country Squire or the Buick Roadmaster.

I'd be concerned about dye transfer. Hopefully, whatever kit you buy has a high quality sealant.

The squeaking is probably coming from the economy pads that they used and there's nothing to diagnose. I'm sure the brakes are installed correctly and are safe. Dealerships don't install factory brake pads.

I agree with you that they will...and that will be the problem. People will do the same maintenance schedule on the turbo that they were used to with the 1GR and the turbo will fail prematurely. That's not the fault of the engine, that's the fault of the owner. Since folks are not known for...

I don't see why the engine won't make it to 200K+ under proper usage and maintenance. The main problem will come from owners (excluding people participating in forums like this) who will not do proper maintenance or will engage in improper application such as excessive towing/snowplow/hauling...
