You could try one of those CD Player cleaner disks and see if that helps. But if not, it's a CD player and they don't last forever. Though, from a 2002 that seems like a pretty short life. If it is broke beyond repair there are plenty of people out there who buy after market stereos and you...

good to know that was the only problem! When I first got my 4Runner last summer I had left the heat on full blast and I heard it as I was going down the road and I thought a window got busted out or a hole somewhere in the runner cause of all the air rushing out!

Wow, yours mounts like all other 4Runner's mounts!? Do you think you can look it over and see if it has a brand or some sort of serial number or anything on it!? I would love to get me one but I had no idea there was any that fit without going on the windshield!

I use Mobile 1 Truck and SUV Synthetic and a Toyota Filter every 5000+/- miles. No problems!

They stopped making 5-speeds for 4Runners in 2001. So 01-02 models may be a little different harder to swap?

Or one of them is loose and needs tightened. After I got my timing belt and others changed, after a day or two one started squealing on cold starts because it stretched some and needed tightened.

If a shop did it, I'd do my best to get back there and make them fix it, since they broke it.
