I purchased a new gasket at the Toyota dealership. Was less than $20

    Transmission Filter

The transmission has a metal screen filter. With metal screen filter there is no need to buy a brand new filter. You can just unbolt it from under the tranny and flush it out with brake fluid and let dry for a bit and reinstall. There are also 3-4 magnets sitting on the bottom of the oil pan...

    T-SB-0121-12 Its Finally Here!

I remember giving my local Toyota parts department the new part number from the TSB that I had for the V8 4runner. I asked him if its the same one for the V6 also. He said yes. So they are identical it seems like.

    From Flipped FJ to 4Runner!

Congrats on the new ride. And glad you are okay from your FJ accident. I still think you will be back to a 4x4 in no time. Having a 4x4 vehicle is for safely as well. Through a snow storm, rain, etc. I do not think I would be able to own a 4runner in 2wd. I rather have a plush ride and have a...

    Transmission flush or drain?

I just wiped everything down with a cloth including the magnets inside, and put back the magnets in there original position in the groves of the pan. Then I sprayed the pan with some brake fluid that evaporates quickly so I don't have any oily residue when installing the new gasket. I always...

    Transmission flush or drain?

I decided to fully flush my transmission at 52k miles. Glad I did because the fluid did not look so great. I am the 2nd owner and when I bought the 4runner, it had a brake controlled installed in the car so wanted to change the fluid out ASAP. Wanted to do a full flush rather than a serial...

    HELP: Transmission Flush

It's very possible. I just did a complete flush with 13 quarts of toyota WS fluid this past weekend. I also figured out how to put the vehicle in transmission temperature mode to check the fluid properly. So glad I did this. At 50k miles my fluid was brownish red. Print out the DIY from my...

4th Gen Metal Tech Offset Rear Lower Links Install

Thanks for the install DIY! Maybe I will do this in the future too. In your build thread. There was a picture of you grinding with an angle grinder or something during the install. What was that needed for?

Can't enter temperature check mode in transmission

Well I changed the fluid today. Tranny fluid was dirty at only 50k miles. I highly recommed people to fully flush their transmissions as these can go 200k miles easily when maintained well. I even dropped the pan. Pan is very easy to remove so I cleaned up all the magnets on the bottom inside...

Can't enter temperature check mode in transmission

Anyone ever do this? Seems like it's mandatory when changing your fluid. No one does this?

Can't enter temperature check mode in transmission

I forgot to mention that I tried the procedure after driving the vehicle 6 or so miles tonight? Maybe the transmission was to hot so it did not want to enter the temp mode? Its very cold outside and it sat for 10-15 minutes. Not sure what it is. Will try again tomorrow morning when engine is...
