I saw that some V6 people got theirs replaced. Does anyone have an updated PDF reflecting that? I'm planning on bringing my car in and was wondering if it was available in case I get some pushback.

I haven't seen a TSB for the 4th gen regarding the V6. But I do remember that the FJ Cruiser and the 5th gens have a similar TSB. I would suspect that the 5th gen Driveshaft is identical to the 4th gen V6 unit. Also the V8 shaft might work as well since the transmissions are the same '05 if I remember right.

I remember giving my local Toyota parts department the new part number from the TSB that I had for the V8 4runner. I asked him if its the same one for the V6 also. He said yes. So they are identical it seems like.

It is, they just replaced mine, no questions asked. When the advisor asked what I was there for, I said my driveshaft was clunking, he then asked "Do you have a 4Runner?"

I have a 2007 V8 that I've owned since new (45,000 miles). I have the 7 year warranty. Gone round and round with Toyota about the clunking since new and resigned to liberal greasing which works ok but is annoying on a newer vehicle.

I'm a little slow on reading the forums but noticed the official TSB last week and went to Toyota. They filed a claim with the warranty folks and a few days later they came and drove the truck and agreed to replace the driveshaft. It was like pulling teeth to get them to do anything though.

I must say so far the difference is night and day. No clunk...no anticipating clunk...nice tight driveline feel. I would probably have spent my own money to make it go away but am glad I didn't have to do that.

I think the invoice was about $425. If your on the fence get it done, it's well worth it IMHO!

Update for everyone...... I was able to get my car fixed after all. I persisted and found that I called Toyota corporate about the clunk problem when I was still covered under the factory warranty at 35k. They took my case under consideration and approved the repair according to this TSB. Note though for V6 models they actually have a different part number for the drive shaft than this one. I am not sure what it is as they (my dealer) didn't give me the updated TSB for V6 models or tell me. They just said there was an update to the drive shaft. If you feel like you ever called corporate while under warranty they should have that on record and that would help in getting your individual case considered.
