So once the bolt is out the balancer will slide off the crank without a puller??

Are there threads on the crankshaft in order to use a puller to remove it. I am changing the timing belt and water pump. 1997 v-6. TIA

This happened a few weeks ago, waited a bit and it started like normal. Not extended crank. It happened again a few days ago, and would not start for 2 days, thn started normally this morning. Thanks for reply.

The starter cranks the engine just fine.

97 4runner with intermittent starting issue. Happens infrequently, but still an issue. Symptoms: cranks fine, power to fuel pump, spark is present. Timing belts are spot on. I am wondering if cam sensor will cause such an issue. Any help is appreciated.

Looking for a little help. A buddy has a 97 that will not start. It cranks, sounds a bit different though. It has power to fuel pump, I am thinking that perhaps the timing belt has slipped (it is overdue for this service). I put a spark tester on it, and it does show there is spark to the plugs...
