eh, the amp most likely won't be there, and a wire comes straight from the amp that goes to the sub...it would probably be a pain in the butt. I would do something like what I did, get the OEM sub box, but put your own sub and amp back there...

look at pioneer's new Avic X series, I believe it is. I just bought a 2006 runner without the OEM navi because I got such a good price, but to put it in is harder than putting in a aftermarket one...and the aftermarket one will probably be nicer and have more features.

asmara, I originally got to the sub this way. you can do it but like zimm says, you can mess up. The piece you are talking about is put on with like plastic rivets that must be broken or undone before that single plastic piece will come off. just be careful if you choose to go that route...
