    Switch/Circuit help or advice

That will do the switching fine but the lights are rated for 24 volts a/c. They may work at 12 volts dc or not. You may be able to replace them with 12v dc bulbs if they blow. For the wiring you want to use a 12v source that's switched by the ignition and a ground. The stereo uses a 12v switched...

Possible fix for the steering wheel shake

I did my suspension in two stages. First I replaced the shocks. I still had the shakes. After I replaced the springs 6 months later the shakes went away.

    Squeaking/Chirping from front of engine

I had a very similar sound and it turned to be my water pump. It had been replaced with a very cheap aftermarket pump. It started with a very small coolant leak, so small it never dripped on the ground. I would notice when I did my oil changes that the coolant would be down about a 1" in the...

    Front end shaking

I had the same thing with my 2002. I started with the tires, helped, sway bar bushings, helped, shocks, still shook, an alignment, balanced tires 2 more times with road force machine. It was pretty good but still there a persistent vibration at 65 and up. I gave up. A while later I put 99...

Odd question about keys for original owners

Once they replace the ECM with a flashable/rewriteable ECM you wont have this problem again. If you lose you keys again they can simply reflash the new ECM to accept new keys. Thats the problem. The first ECM's used were not flashable. If the original keys were lost, the ECM turned into an...

Am I missing a transmission bolt?

The bolt thats missing just holds a cover plate. It covers about 3 inches of the bottom of the tranny thats houses the torque converter. You can remove the plate and look in with a mirror. Good luck

    10,000th P0171 Thread? With a twist.

I would start at the throttle body, check the IAC valve and all the hose's and gaskets. Thats all I got. And yes, he's totally a transvestite. Good luck

    Fuel tank leak.

I had the exact same issue. Smell of fuel, evap code p0442. I had to pass emissions quicky so I dropped the tank and it was rusted through around the breather and a hose that went into the top of the tank. Around the fuel pump was solid. My fuel filler tube assembly was also rotted so I had to...

No CEL but has the O2 sensor gone bad?

Not sure if its an A/F or O2 sensor. That sensor is only being used after it warms up in closed loop. The rear sensor has no effect on the injector timing. The shudder may not be from the A/F or O2. Just a thought Good luck

    Upstream O2 Sensor...In a Pickle

You have to get the nuts from toyota. I was told that they are a one time use lock nut. Mine looked worse than yours and it wasn't so bad. For your cel, could it be the coolant temp sensor itself? Good luck

New proud owner of possibly one of the lowest milage 3rd gens. Lots of questions!

Nice find! I'm Toronto too. Its tough to find 3rd gens that aren't full of rust holes. I wish you the best of luck keeping the rust at bay.

Might be purchasing this 3rd gen - need thoughts

If this one checks out just make sure you get it on the highway at at least 120km/h. If there are any issues with the front end they will rear there ugly head there. Good luck with the 3rg gen hunt

    1999 4runner Heater not hot

I would also check the linkage on the heater core valve that's mounted on the firewall in the engine bay. It broke on my 95(same design) and I had to manually turn it off in the summer and back on when it starting getting cold again.

    A New Smell/Odor To Ponder....

On one occasion I over greased the driveshaft zerk fittings and grease was slung on the exhaust. Didn't smell like tire air though. Good luck

*Does this sound right? The "new updated" crankshaft bolt now has a washer.

When I purchased that bolt from the dealer it was the updated one. If i can remember correctly the washer and the bolt are one piece. I assume that the updated one is better if the dealer is selling it? I never had a problem with the original, but for 8$ it seemed silly not to replace it when I...
