Brakes unresponsive/don't work/seized on cold winter start

No. When the entire front brakes were replaced it included brake fluid change with bleed. I don't think my problem is air in the system otherwise I would've had the same problem when it was warmer out right?

Brakes unresponsive/don't work/seized on cold winter start

Thanks for all the responses Luckily it does come back after about 10 seconds. Can something really warm up that quickly? I'll try the grommet and vacuum valve as it seemed to be cheap and straight forward. Pumping the brakes before throwing it into drive also sounds like a good idea. Will...

Brakes unresponsive/don't work/seized on cold winter start

Need a bit of help Picked up my 1996 sr5 last January and it had very weak brakes. Sometimes they wouldn't even engage when first starting the truck on a cold winter day. Found that the calipers were shot. I swapped these out for the 231mm tundra brake set up and it was great. Yesterday had an...

Burning smell after driving the truck

Well if it's the valve gaskets then I'm good. Had those replaced and I'll ask my garage to take another look and hopefully they won't charge me! It was also only done a couple of weeks ago so maybe giving it a bit more time will help. Keep you posted. Thanks for the help guys

    Another Problem... Power Steering leak

I found a similar problem on mine. Looks like there's a slight leak around the boots for the rack. Not entirely sure if it originates from the power steering pump and just an issue with the rack itself. Garage said I don't even want to entertain a rebuild or replacement rack...but from the...

Anybody interested in a rear coolant line repair write-up??

This is a great thread! Thanks for posting. My garage found the same issue and actually told me the leak was why my truck smelled like burning after driving it around. Anyways, garage quoted me $100 for the work to replace it but $15 in parts looks like a great DIY to me. When I passed on the...

    Tundra Brake swap wheel help

Yup don't disagree...It makes total sense. But on this truck after the install, you don't feel it. I'm guessing it's something to do with where the grinded material is taken off with respect to the mounting area to the hub, the fat tires vs. small rim size. You definitely feel smaller balancing...

Tundra brake upgrade on my '96 4runner needs mounting hardware?

Went ahead with the 231mm calipers and I have the 3rd gen 3x split-spoke wheels. Had to grind the inside of the wheel a bit but also had to grind a bit of the caliper. In another thread some of the posters had mentioned concerns around balancing. My truck drove fine after the work, no...

Burning smell after driving the truck

Took the truck to a different garage and they said it was one of these things but most likely number 1. Based on the repair costs I was quoted for rebuilds and replacements I don't think it's going to be reasonable to address it. 1. Prop shaft leaking. The yolk is whipping fluid in the o2...

Adding a new "used" truck to the family - My first 4Runner

It's amazing how many 4Runners are still on our roads? I must see 2-3 every day! Not bad for an 18 year old truck. If you're anywhere near Toronto then for sure. Finally addressed the brakes and indeed; crappy remanufactured 4runner calipers that came with the truck were the culprit. Spent a...

    Tundra Brake swap wheel help

Just did mine. 13WL 231mm calipers Grinded the wheels and the caliper No issues with vibration or anything so don't feel wheel balancing is an issue

Burning smell after driving the truck

Hey everyone So since I bought the truck there has been a burning smell after having it run. My mechanic said the valve cover gaskets were leaking on to the exhaust which accounts for the smell.., these were changed a couple of days ago but I still smell it. Any thoughts or is this too general...
