I haven't scoped yet, but plan to. As far as history, I have it from the first two owners on Carfax, but nothing from the last owner. The car sat for a while, as I have found several dirt dauber nests. Makes me think it sat long enough for oil ring to get stuck. Maybe. Keith

We just replaced the valve seals last weekend. He drove the car approximately 250 miles and used about 1/2 qt oil. So it's burning a lot more than I expected. Just ordered a PCV valve and plan to do a compression test and leak down test soon. Keith

Once I do the leak down test and scope, hopefully I will be able to tell if it seems to be a ring issue. If there is not damage to the cylinders, then I'm hoping its a gummed up ring on cylinder 6 and a piston soak might free I up. That's my current best case scenario in my head. Keith

The car has about 135,000 miles on it. I question if the motor was under water at some point. I purchased it with the issue from someone who was flipping it, not the previous owner. I have service records in Carfax from the first two owners but not the last owner before the car lot bought it. Keith

I do believe this is an oil burning issue for multiple reasons. 1) Smoke has an oil smell 2) Engine is losing oil and has no visible leaks 3) #6 plug has build up. (second photo) Keith

This is certainly an option I have, but trying to save it to my last option. Cost is $5-$6K for a lower mile engine and there is no way to know if it's a good motor. Crap shoot.

I just changed the video to unlisted instead of private. I don't disagree that I'm scratching around and I'm trying to avoid causing additional issues. I think compression, leak down and borescope are good next steps to avoid causing additional issues. Keith

I've seen remanufactured long blocks for sale, as well are rebuild kits. I know the block can't be bored, so I'm not sure what a rebuild kit would accomplish unless the block had no wear. And I'm not sure how to know that without taking to a machine show to have them measure. Keith
