Ok, I will have to stop by tomorrow, and take a better look. I got to the dealer after they had closed, so I just looked under it for rust, and saw that was all wet, looked around a little, took a photo and left kinda defeated. Would you be concerned about the oil and condition on the crossmember?

I don't really know much, but I know it was very oily, and when I rubbed it off, it was brown/black and sandy on my finger. Do you think it could be from maybe doing an oil change and oil running down from the filter? I don't know if that's possible cause it was on the tow hooks, but just a theory

Would you be worried about seeing this when purchasing a car?

Should be able to resize the photo to see it bigger, but it was on the tow hooks, the cross member, the radiator support, and the skid plate. It was black when I touched it with my finger, but the radiator looked clean and everything looked dry above it so idk if it was leaking on it or what...

I'm looking at a 2007 4runner, looked under it and this is what I saw. Little bit of surface rust and then it was all covered in some sort of oil or dirt or something. Everything above it looked dry but it was definitely coated with something

Sooooo I've moved on to another one. However this one doesn't have much rust but it did have some sludge out something on the cross member. I attached a photo. What do you guys think? Is this normal to catch road oils here? I attached a photo below

thats good to know as well! in my area, im seeing 04's for like $9k with 150-170k. I feel like thats a bit pricey, but I just found an 07 for $9700, with 157k. If i'm able to get it down to $9k, and the frame is good, I think I might jump on it

It was the radiator support and the cross member. I'm definitely moving on I looked into the frame rust repairs and definitely staying away.

I just took the car for a test drive. Few concerns if you guys can give me some advice id appreciate it! Under radiator support, cross member, whatever it is that's metal was rusted gone essentially. Rest of frame looked REALLY GOOD. AAlso while driving vsc off and trac off was also illuminated...
