Thanks to all you for your help, got the front diff put in last friday. Found a diff up in Green Bay for $125 and about 3 1/2 hours later we had it in. Had to jack up the transfercase a tad in order to pull it out but mad it a lot easier. Its back on the road looking to hit 300k. next up...

just finished putting in front diff last week 2001 4wd SR5 V6 3.4 265/70/R16 A340F Not sure what an e-locker is but did verify it was 4.10 ratio

i will keep that in mind, the logistics is what i'd be worried about. I found one in Green Bay and was going to run up and get that tonight. Only an hour away. Thanks for the offer though. BTW when they say with ADD or W/O ADD what does that mean???? Anybody? Sorry not really a motor head guy.

yes, SR5 v6 3.4 auto thank you for your help. I could always pull it and check on top, but seems like alot of work and you would think that there would be some way to know what the heck it is before tearing into this project.... now to find one here is wisconsin. sucks with no 4 wheel drive...

thank you for the reply ar1five. i did call the dealer with the vin and they told me it is stamped on the diff. I could not find it as i'm guessing it is on the top where i cant see it. Will look at the rear. Thanks again

Front diff went out on the 4runner, my problem is i cant find what gear ratio it is. looks like there are 3 different ratios available. i guess it supposed to be stamped on the diff but cant find it? Any ideas as how to determine what ratio i have w/o pulling it out? Any help would be...
