    My Ownership and Maintenance Costs

That's pretty similar to my experience. I'm surprised you haven't have any O2 sensors replaced yet. Chris

    Headlight housing

Since you'll be replacing those lamps, this might be a good chance to do a little experiment with your old units. You could use different methods to clean the lens then leave them out in the sun for the winter to see which method works best. As an example, I've seen Youtube video of folks...

    02 Sensor Check Engine Lights

I've had the same problem with O2 sensors on my '04 V6 and I'll share with you what I found. When the O2 sensor codes started appearing I went to my parts store and ordered Denso brand replacement sensors. Several weeks later the codes reappeared. I replaced them and a few weeks later the...

    My Ownership and Maintenance Costs

Def, I'm starting to think the '03 - '05 4Runners are a bit more trouble -prone than the later models. The head gaskets for instance on the V6 model comes to mind.

    My Ownership and Maintenance Costs

You know, when I compiled my receipts I didn't see anything for the two air filters and I didn't even think of them at that time. Now that you mention it I feel certain I replaced both at some point but there's no receipt to confirm it. I'll need to look at both in the AM. As for the other...

    My Ownership and Maintenance Costs

I bought my '04 4Runner new on 10/30/2003. In honor of my 13th year of ownership and with Halloween coming up (get it?) I decided to make a video on all of the various repairs and upkeep costs that I've incurred. I'd be curious to know how this compares with other trucks around the same age...

    Frosted Headlight Tip

I ran a buffer over mine headlights. I used two different grits of compound than finished it with a coat of wax. Looked good for several months but it's hazing over again. I think this summer I'll buff them again but this time use some clear coat like on your headlights to try and preserve...

Sudden Drop in MPG after last service! Advise & Suggestions needed.

I wonder if the MAF is getting cruddy or an O2 sensor took a crap. I don't know a whole lot about these sensors but I believe that when the computer can't get a good reading it reverts to a basic air/fuel ratio setting which results in a drop in MPG.

    4th Gen 4Runner Key Blanks

I still have a few of these key blanks available. Cost is $10 plus another $2 to ship within the continuous 48 States. Chris

    4 speed automatic vs 5 speed ('04 > '05+)

I have an '04 V6 with the four speed trans and I am always surprised by how long and well my truck will coast without any throttle. My buddy has a V8 with the 5 speed and he complains constantly about what he considers to be engine braking whenever off the throttle. I will add that up until...

    4th Gen 4Runner Key Blanks

So a few weeks ago I ordered two new key blanks for my '04 4Runner through Amazon. I took these to my local hardware store where they cut them for free than I programmed them for free using the instructions on this forum. Everything is great with these keys and they work perfectly. The...

    Noise after replacing CV Axle

For my hub and bearing, I went to my local parts store. They had Moog brand in stock and retailed for $130 ish per side. I'm there enough for other projects that they gave me a discount. I paid $99 which included them pressing the hub and bearing as well as the seal. I simply took off my old...

    Noise after replacing CV Axle

I think you're right in looking towards the bearing assembly first. It's also not far fetched to have the drivers side bearing go bad even though the hum subsides when making fast right hand turns. As an example, this past Fall, I was getting a vibration and hum from the passenger side. The...

    howling/humming sound above 20 mph

Just thought I'd share my experience with my '04 4runner. This past fall I first noticed a slight vibration coming through the turn signal and windshield wiper stalks. It wasn't obvious unless I lightly placed the tip of my finger on the stalk. The vibration started around 35 MPH or so and I...
