My Ownership and Maintenance Costs

I bought my '04 4Runner new on 10/30/2003. In honor of my 13th year of ownership and with Halloween coming up (get it?) I decided to make a video on all of the various repairs and upkeep costs that I've incurred. I'd be curious to know how this compares with other trucks around the same age.

So, take a look and let me know.

I see you included brakes and rotors in your maintenance costs, what about:
cabin air filters
engine air filters
front diff. oil
rear diff. oil
x-fer case oil
spark plugs
engine coolant (@ 100k)
propeller shaft lube
drive belts
brake fluid

I like to watch TV sometimes - but only with my TV.

Anyway, my maintenance list includes most all the same things as the previous posters but with lots more tires and brake pads. No O2 sensors for me yet.

I bought my 08 new in November of 07 and outside of the normal scheduled maintenance, had NO warranty issues with the truck whatsoever. The only time the dealer performed any MX was when Toyota issued the gas pedal recall after an issue with a Camry/Corolla (can't remember which) a while back. In fact, it wasn't until I reached ~ 120K that I really started feeling suspension fatigue.

You know, when I compiled my receipts I didn't see anything for the two air filters and I didn't even think of them at that time. Now that you mention it I feel certain I replaced both at some point but there's no receipt to confirm it. I'll need to look at both in the AM. As for the other things like oils and such, I'm a 105K miles now so it's time to do a whole lot of maintenance stuff.

Def, I'm starting to think the '03 - '05 4Runners are a bit more trouble -prone than the later models. The head gaskets for instance on the V6 model comes to mind.

Meh. I had a 04 v6. No engine issues. Had the annoying frozen calipers 3 times, both sides. Both front wheel bearings. Tires, brakes, oils, filters.

All in all she probably cost me more in gas than maintenance/repair.

I have a 05 v6 with 120000 miles since new. I've used it for 12 years now.

so far, what I've replaced are the following:
radiator - started leaking around 2 years ago
front caliper and disk
rear disk
5 tires
drivebelt including all the bearing
alternator.

that's it. and of course the regular oil change for the engine, transmission, differential oil and the greasing of a few things and spark plug.

That's pretty similar to my experience. I'm surprised you haven't have any O2 sensors replaced yet.
