I wanted to get the ones Sonoran Steel sells, since it is a stud top and does not require the adapter, but they will only sell then with their kits. Or the Tokiko Trekmasters would have been nice too but they are discontinued.
After reading tons of posts about rear shocks I ordered the 5125's off of toytec's site. I have a 3" lift OME 890's in the rear. As it sits with the new 5125's, there is only about 4" of upward travel left on the shock. Is this typical or are mine too long? I pulled one side of the truck up...
Went on a few more trips. It's not doing it now. Staying nice and cool. The only thing different is I didn't have to use the defrost as much. Perhaps running defrost mode heats it up. Going to test it out since it's cold as hell.
On a happier note my LX450 wheels should be done this week. Had...
Just came back from a 2 hour drive from the mountains. When I pulled the key out of the ignition it was hot! Almost to hot to touch, as was the ignition. Anyone else experience this? Defrost was running the entire time on high but would the heat from that heat up the ignition that hot? Maybe...
Looked at the UCA bolt today...how do you get a big wrench in there when the tire is on (keeping the truck on it's own weight. Im guessing jack it up from the LCA and remove the tire, then return the hub to its original possition????
What happens if you ust loosen it when you install the coils...
Thats interesting that now the front is higher...Going to look into it and loosen the uppers this weekend. Will take a before and after measurment.
And on a 2wd I dunno. No CV's to worry about. Not sure one the steering. But you will run out of alignment the higher you go. I think even a 3"...
Yeah 3" is the general concensus, otherwise you will smoke the CV's. But with the 881's and the 1" top spacer It probly wont be a true 3" . a lot of people have run the 881's and top spacer with no probs, other than some not liking the 881s. I do have the 1" diff drop so it should be ok.
Was completely unaware of this. Will have to try it. Do you do upper and lower?
I have stock front and rear bumpers...no funds for it right now.
So I think im gonna add the toytec 1" spacer, and try relieving that tension. Are there and other top plate spacers? cornfed maybe?
thanks guys
Same deal here. Valve cover leaks, drivers side, right on the exhaust manifold. Smells like rubber sometimes. But....far far worse is the entire half gallon of milk my kid spilled in the back seat. Had to take the back seat apart and rinse out the foam.
I didn't take any base line measurements so I dunno....doh. As it sits now measuring center of hub to fender flare edge there is a 1.75 inch difference.(with the rear cargo empty, stock bumper, and spare in place) In my opinion it looks fine. It was worse before the rear settled a bit. Reason...
After some reading it seems the tundra 5100 struts have 5 adjustments. Has anyone paired these with the 881's?
Or a whole other route.... Toytec coilovers....?
I installed an OME setup a few months back and was happy....well for a while. Can't live with the front 1.75 inches lower than the rear now. Its 881's up front and 890's in the back. I opted for the cheaper rough country struts/shocks. The rear rides a bit rough but Im ok with it. Off road is...
