I installed mine in the extra space below my aftermarket stereo. Because the 4runner uses a 2 din slot I could buy an addapter which made mounting withouth having to drill holes in the dash panels or cut the ash tray out. It came out really clean.

I also have the exact same question. It's one thing that keeps me from trying to build one.

I use Toyota Parts Overstock online. With them I can view full exploded views of all assemblies without having to contact the dealership for OEM parts. The nice thing about being able to view exploded assemblies is that most of the time I know what I need but am not sure of its exact name.
