I have looked into transmissions lately and found several shops that would do complete rebuilds with 2yr/24k mile warrants for $2200-$2500. I also found you can buy a remanufactured one from advanced auto for $1700 or a beefed up one from ITP transmissions for $3400.

Had a pioneer avic-f700bt navi Bluetooth head unit installed.

Chop it up man. Nothing beats having a dedicated trail rig. You can have so much more fun not worrying about the body and things breaking all the time.

I learned my lesson to never limp it home after an overheat. We had a mini van we did that with and I believe that since I limped it home I blew the head gasket and warped the head. If you overheat it's best to just get her towed and get the problem fixed. Hopefully yours is fine.

Once you drop the pan you will see the filter. Remove it and the three solenoids are right there. The key is making sure you replace the right one. I'm about to do all three while I have it open.

Take the valve body out and spray it down good with brake cleaner. Use a whole can on it. It's possible it is dirty and causing your issue.

Buying a 2wd 4runner just doesn't seem right. Seems like there are some nice ones popping up on Craigslist here in Nashville. I had mine posted up for a couple weeks but I just can't get what I need out of it and its too reliable and cool to let go of.

It had to be taken care of to get to 300k. I would think you could get another 30k miles out of it no problem. I have seen some 97's for sale in my area that have less miles but look like complete junk. So my point is miles aren't everything. Let us know if you get it.

I went with the bilstein hd's and love them. But the 4runner still rides like a tank. :(
