Slow coolant loss - any others out there?

Yeah, I notice this on both my 4Runner (12) and FJ (08). They both seem to slowly, consistently drop over time (months). I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I only started to notice it once I started doing my own maintenance. Maybe the dealer would top it up when they did the oil changes?

2012 model front brake caliper removal

No problem, I'm glad I could help. I've learned a lot from this forum and the FJ one I linked - its nice to give back when I can.

FRONT BRAKES: Replacement w/pics - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum This may help. From an FJ, but similar enough.

5th Gen Front Caliper Slide Pin Stuck

I hit all the pins with a wire brush to knock off as much corrosion as possible and then a generous amount of calliper lube. The pin in question wasn't too bad after that. I got it to the point where I could basically slide it in and out with my hand so I didn't bother replacing it. I'll...

5th Gen Front Caliper Slide Pin Stuck

In case anyone cares, I finally got it out this afternoon. It took a combination of a hammer, a punch, some gumption, and the PB Blaster doing what it's supposed to do overnight. I know this is pretty petty stuff, but maybe it'll help someone like myself in a similar situation.

5th Gen Front Caliper Slide Pin Stuck

Roger, thanks. I can get at it with a punch - was trying yesterday but no luck. That's how I got the other ones free. Perhaps I'll try again this afternoon after the PB Blaster sat on it over night.

5th Gen Front Caliper Slide Pin Stuck

Hi, I attempted to perform some basic maintenance on my brakes yesterday (2012, SR5) and discovered I couldn't get one of the front caliper slide pins out. The other 3 came out, albeit with varying degrees of persuasion, but I couldn't get the 4th to budge. It seems to be stuck from corrosion...

    5th Gen Forum Problem

So, I took my boy to the park the other day with his two cousins (ages 2-5) and of course they wanted to go down the 'big boy' slide. The problem was, there was a group of big boys at the bottom throwing wood chips in their faces. They came complaining to me and I told them "either do...

    Transfer Case Fluid

FWIW when it was time to do mine I asked the dealer about the different weights in the diffs and transfer case and they said they just used 75w90 in all three (Ontario, Canada). I went with Mobil 1 75w90. Pretty easy DIY for a complete amateur like myself.

3rd Gen as a Daily Driver?

A little ways East of Toronto, so I've been tracking the Toronto and Ottawa markets.

3rd Gen as a Daily Driver?

Well, I learned something new today. I didn't realize that Craigslist was used much in Canada. To answer your question, I would love a manual, but realistically would be happy with either/or so long as it was properly maintained with minimal rust. Thanks for the input.

3rd Gen as a Daily Driver?

Thanks again for all the responses. I think I was wanting to be convinced that the 3rd Gen would work out well for my needs/wants, and I feel you have all done a good job with that! I guess it's just a matter of being patient and finding the right one. I've been following Kijiji (Canada's CL)...

3rd Gen as a Daily Driver?

Thank you all for the quick responses, and to be clear, I wasn't looking to spend $20,000 on a 3rd Gen (not even $20,000 Canadian). The other vehicles I've been considering are a 2nd Gen Tacoma and the FJ Cruiser, both of which would set me back more than a 3rd Gen 4runner. I personally feel...

3rd Gen as a Daily Driver?

Hi all, Bottom line up front: Will a 3rd Gen be a good daily driver for me? About me: First of all, this is my first post on a forum of any sort, so please be kind. I'm in my mid 30s, married with a young child, with another on the way. We purchased a brand new 5th Gen 4runner in 2012 and I...
