Mine are stock height, too. Glad to see another vote for keeping the OEM axle.

After I posted this, I was reading through the forums I decided to go with the reboot vs. a new axle. Good tip on marking the tripod joint. Seems like a relatively easy job, thanks for the tips!

Ah, good to know about loaner tools - I've done LBJs before and got lucky that I didn't need any special tools, but I'd like to have them on hand. I'll check out the trakmotives - thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I realize I left out a critical word in my topic. Wiper MOTOR replacement! Sheesh. Yes, it seems in fact to be a dead motor at 324,000 miles. Or at least dead enough to draw high voltage and blow the fuse. I got the new motor and tested it, and the fuse does not blow...

So the 20A fuse on my 1998 4Runner keeps blowing after I turn the wipers off. They run fine when I replace the fuse, until I turn them off and poof, the fuse blows. I suspect this is the park circuit on the wiper motor. It's the original wiper motor and I'm 324,000 miles in, so it's a good...

Thanks for this! So the 10A fuse that keeps blowing is in the "4 pin & taillight" eco-system, separate from the 7-pin install, correct? I think this narrows it down to the 4-pin or the converter box...

If this topic still has life... Does anyone know if the 7-pin and 4-pin route to the same fuse? I have a common problem, the 10AMP mini-fuse that runs the dash lights keeps blowing out when wet. I tow nothing and wish I could unplug both of 'em (they came with the used truck). I can sort of...

I just changed my clutch bearing, but even tuned up mine (1998 SR5) feels smooth and a little more shallow than other trucks I've driven.

RonJR - that sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a go this weekend and take some photos. If your plan works, I'm sure somebody else will eventually have the same problem and could benefit from seeing how a scrub mechanic like myself was able to install the sway bar.

I had a buddy helping - and I don't think we ever got close enough that the brake lines were in play but of course, good advice. I wish the '05 was lifted. I have a '98 4Runner that is lifted and it would be a cinch to install a sway bar on that truck.

Thanks Thanks for the replies! Yes, the truck was on jack stands under the frame. The springs and shocks didn't seem to be in the way that much, it was more twisting it around the gas tank on the driver's side. I tried "threading" it both ways, and neither seemed to work. I may give it one...
