Another 10A Tail Fuse Topic - Need Help!

I've read through the forums about this common problem but it looks like it's still not resolved in my case. Ugh!

My 1998 4Runner blows the tail fuse on a regular basis. I started with a beat-up 4-pin trailer wire that was my main suspect. I ended up replacing the entire tail light converter box and thought that would be the fix.

Alas, this morning it blew again. I'm still a novice with electrical issues, so I'm not sure where to look next. I do have some curious symptoms:

* When it rains or snows, it seems to pop instantly, but I don't see how these lights could be getting wet as all the wires, including the new 4-pin, are inside the vehicle.

* Several times the fuse was fine after I turned off the lights and parked the truck. When I'd go to test it again after firing it up, however, the fuse would be blown (or blow from turning the lights on).

* I do have some cracked wires in the 3rd brake harness, which I think is a separate issue involving a different 20A fuse (which also controls the rear wiper / window). Shouldn't be related, right?

I'm baffled where to look next. Any tips would be appreciated!

Your wires in your tailgate boot are probably damaged. The 3rd stop light runs into the tailgate. 95% of the fuse blown in the stop light or tailgate would be your trailer plug or box. Or the wiring going to your tailgate.

The part that bends in the wire boot is where you find cracked or broken wires. Verify all of those are not damaged or insulation cracking off is where I would start.
