Hey all, wrecked my runner ( 1990 SR5) this past wednesday. Front end is all boogered up, radiator is trashed, power steering pump destroyed. Still starts and runs good(22re out of a '95, about 180k miles on engine), damage seems to be limited to the front suspension....which i just replaced...

I found one that came out of an early toyota pickup that is runnin 4.11 gears, I know that mine is 4.10 but I was wondering if this would work? The bolt pattern looks right but I was wondering if anybody had any input before I bought it.

Need a replacement third member for my 1990 T4R, 22re, 5spd, 4wd. I am in TX. Definitely doesn't need to be new, just can't be missing teeth (why i am replacing my hold one) PM me if ya got one you are willing to part with. Thanks.

finally got the third member off, a chunk of gear fell out when i did, looked at the pinion, about a quarter of it is trashed..... now to find a replacement. KidV, thanks for all the help. if ya ever come through TX lemme know and i'll have a beer waitin for ya.

also, anything else i should replace while i'm down there?

gotcha, i'll start scavenging around, see if i can pick up a new (gently used) one cheap. looked through the FSM, doesn't seem too difficult. i've rebuilt a diff before, but it was a Ford 9-inch. any tips or surprises i need to know before i get ass deep in it?

Also, I feel like an idiot askin this, but I cannot for the life of me remember what my gear ratio is. Anyone know how to tell the difference between em? other than counting the teeth obviously, I cant get the diff out yet and wanna go ahead and order the new one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

allright, no jiggle on the driveshaft, just a little rotation, not too much though. took off rear driveshaft, drove around in 4H. noise was still there, but not near as much. came back, put it back in 2H and put on the parking break and floored it in gear, alas no noise. so as much as i can...

Gotcha. I'll get to shakin and see what happens? Just curious, the noise sounds like its comin from the fron of the vehicle, could that just be a wierd acoustic thing?

Roger that. gonna crawl back under it tomorrow and start checkin everything. Forgive the inexpereince, but whats the best way to check and make sure the u-joints are good?
