    Engine Stall

Very good points. I think he mentioned that no code was produced by the OBD which would rule out a sensor for the most part. When the same thing happened to my 4Runner, I explored all possibilities, but everything pointed to the IAC valve. The engine ran fine at 1,000+ RPM's which means the...

    Engine Stall

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. It would not idle on its own, but would stay running if you were on the throttle. I pulled the throttle body and discovered that the IAC valve was stuck closed from carbon build up. I cleaned it with carb cleaner then lubed the moving parts with...

    Front end clunky clunky

I actually just replaced pads and rotors two weeks ago which eliminated my highway "shimmy" since the rotors were so warped. I think braking just puts directional force on all the suspension components which helps to bind them up a bit. But I will definitely investigate your...

    Front end clunky clunky

I've had a few people tell me that steering rack bushings are a bit tricky to do. I was kinda saving that for last ;)

    Front end clunky clunky

I know its a long shot seeking advice concerning noise on a message board...but I can't locate the source of the noise after 1 year of hearing it. The noise is coming from the front end when I go over smaller bumps or cracks. Over bigger stuff, there's no noise. If the brakes are applied...

Pain in the A Oil change

I just wedge a funnel under the filter. The type of funnel that has the bendy hose on it. If it doesnt want to stay in place, use a coat hanger or bicycle spoke to rig up a hanger. Laying out a nice bed of cardboard is also a good idea. Keeps the driveway from getting stained and those...

Holy crap... $900 for pads, calipers and rotors?

Last weekend I bought rotors and pads for the front, from the dealership. After a 15% discount from an online coupon, I paid about $265 out the door. OEM parts may not be the best performance wise (and they are expensive), but they were designed by engineers and you know for a fact they will...

Using bed liner on entire body?

The clear coat on my roof is starting to fade and disappear. The herpes is even creeping to the top of my doors. Most body shops want between $500 and $1,000 to repaint it. I'm starting to think that I should just have the entire body shot with Line-X or Rhino Liner . Does anyone work...

    Yet another vibration mystery...

There's some rattling over bumps, maybe the steering rack bushing will help like you said. My vibration issue has been pretty frustrating. If a road is smooth, I don't have any issues, but on "corduroy" highways it happens at various speeds then will just stop.

    Yet another vibration mystery...

My '99 has the same vibration issues. I always thought it was the wheels/tires, but then I had new wheels/tires installed and the problem persisted. A few people said it could be steering rack bushings, but I am eager to try this solution. Can you offer any insight to the lube/additive? Do I...

    Adjustable Coil overs

Yeah, I would agree with that. I think it's just the fact that there is so much weight in the general rear area that it unloads the front spring tension.

    Adjustable Coil overs

My drivers side sags 1/4 inch below my passenger side (stock coils with Bilstein 5100's). Heard this is the case with a few 4Runners regardless of suspension set up. I have noticed that on a full tank of gas, that the drivers side and passengers side are at equal height.

Tundra TRD Spring/Shock Swap Actual Lift Height?

I asked the same question a while back and the consensus was 2 inches for that thread. Other factors include your current ride height (some 4x4's being a bit higher than 4x2's) and how many miles the Tundra coil assemblies have. Expect 2 inches, and be stoked when you get 2.25!

31" and 32" tire size question

I think the tire manufacturers websites are really helpful. They usually provide the inflated diameter, the tire width, contact width, and tread depth. 265/75/16's can vary over half an inch in inflated diameter, and about 1/4 of an inch in width. I have Yokohama Geolander AT/S's in...

Is swapping in '99 coils really worth it?

If you plan on keepin your ride for a while, just go with a full on coilover. You're gonna spend $400 on new '99 talls from the stealership and then another $150 on struts. For another $300 you can have a nice pair of Sway A Ways, Kings, Icons, or even FabTech (which really aren't as bad as...
